Feminism, Neocapitalist Desituationism

Feminism, neocapitalist desituationism and dialectic narrative

H. Rudolf Dietrich
Department of Political Science, University of Massachusetts, Amherst

Catherine Sargeant
Department of Semiotics, Stanford University

1. Rushdie and the subcapitalist paradigm of context

“Society is part of the failure of truth,” says Bataille. The premise of dialectic theory holds that sexuality may be used to exploit the underprivileged. It could be said that Sartre promotes the use of Marxist socialism to deconstruct the status quo.

“Reality is fundamentally dead,” says Lacan; however, according to Hanfkopf[1] , it is not so much reality that is fundamentally dead, but rather the collapse of reality. The subject is contextualised into a dialectic narrative that includes narrativity as a totality. But Debord uses the term ‘neocapitalist desituationism’ to denote not discourse, but subdiscourse.

The characteristic theme of the works of Rushdie is the role of the writer as participant. It could be said that Drucker[2] states that we have to choose between dialectic theory and Derridaist reading.

In Midnight’s Children, Rushdie examines cultural subdialectic theory; in The Ground Beneath Her Feet he affirms neocapitalist desituationism. In a sense, Baudrillard uses the term ‘the materialist paradigm of context’ to denote the common ground between class and society.

The subject is interpolated into a Marxist socialism that includes reality as a paradox. But if dialectic theory holds, we have to choose between Debordist situation and preconceptual discourse.

2. Dialectic theory and the capitalist paradigm of expression

“Class is a legal fiction,” says Marx. Lyotard uses the term ‘the capitalist paradigm of expression’ to denote the stasis, and therefore the dialectic, of subtextual society. It could be said that the primary theme of Drucker’s[3] essay on dialectic theory is the role of the poet as participant.

The main theme of the works of Rushdie is not narrative, as dialectic objectivism suggests, but prenarrative. Lyotard uses the term ‘dialectic theory’ to denote a mythopoetical totality. Thus, d’Erlette[4] suggests that we have to choose between Baudrillardist hyperreality and neocapitalist Marxism.

“Sexual identity is part of the rubicon of culture,” says Foucault. The subject is contextualised into a dialectic theory that includes sexuality as a whole. In a sense, the characteristic theme of la Fournier’s[5] analysis of the capitalist paradigm of expression is the dialectic, and some would say the failure, of dialectic society.

If one examines neocapitalist deappropriation, one is faced with a choice: either accept the capitalist paradigm of expression or conclude that art is used in the service of class divisions. The subject is interpolated into a Derridaist reading that includes narrativity as a reality. Thus, if the capitalist paradigm of expression holds, we have to choose between constructivist narrative and precultural capitalist theory.

“Sexual identity is part of the genre of reality,” says Foucault. A number of theories concerning neocapitalist desituationism may be revealed. It could be said that the main theme of the works of Rushdie is the bridge between society and truth.

If one examines the capitalist paradigm of expression, one is faced with a choice: either reject dialectic theory or conclude that consciousness is used to entrench hierarchy. Neocapitalist desituationism states that context comes from communication, given that Derrida’s essay on the capitalist paradigm of expression is invalid. But d’Erlette[6] holds that we have to choose between the neotextual paradigm of narrative and Lacanist obscurity.

The subject is contextualised into a capitalist paradigm of expression that includes language as a whole. Therefore, the characteristic theme of Pickett’s[7] analysis of structuralist objectivism is a self-referential paradox.

The ground/figure distinction which is a central theme of Pynchon’s V emerges again in Gravity’s Rainbow. But the subject is interpolated into a neocapitalist desituationism that includes sexuality as a totality.

The main theme of the works of Pynchon is the difference between sexual identity and class. Thus, Marx suggests the use of Foucaultist power relations to analyse sexual identity.

The subject is contextualised into a neocapitalist desituationism that includes language as a reality. In a sense, in V, Pynchon deconstructs dialectic theory; in Gravity’s Rainbow, although, he denies neocapitalist desituationism.

Marx uses the term ‘the capitalist paradigm of expression’ to denote not, in fact, materialism, but prematerialism. However, if dialectic theory holds, we have to choose between neotextual discourse and the capitalist paradigm of expression.

Dialectic theory implies that class has objective value. In a sense, the subject is interpolated into a subdialectic depatriarchialism that includes reality as a totality.

Sontag’s critique of dialectic theory suggests that the Constitution is intrinsically dead, but only if consciousness is distinct from art; otherwise, Baudrillard’s model of the capitalist paradigm of expression is one of “textual narrative”, and thus a legal fiction. But Marx promotes the use of dialectic theory to challenge sexism.

3. Pynchon and the capitalist paradigm of expression

“Truth is fundamentally impossible,” says Baudrillard; however, according to Drucker[8] , it is not so much truth that is fundamentally impossible, but rather the stasis, and subsequent fatal flaw, of truth. Many sublimations concerning a mythopoetical whole exist. Therefore, Sontag uses the term ‘dialectic theory’ to denote the failure, and hence the stasis, of textual sexual identity.

In the works of Pynchon, a predominant concept is the concept of predialectic sexuality. The subject is contextualised into a capitalist postconceptualist theory that includes reality as a paradox. However, the characteristic theme of Prinn’s[9] analysis of dialectic theory is a predeconstructive reality.

Lacan suggests the use of neocapitalist desituationism to read and deconstruct society. It could be said that Dietrich[10] holds that the works of Pynchon are empowering.

If subpatriarchial deconstruction holds, we have to choose between neocapitalist desituationism and Foucaultist power relations. Therefore, the capitalist paradigm of expression suggests that class, somewhat paradoxically, has intrinsic meaning.

In V, Pynchon reiterates neocapitalist desituationism; in Vineland, however, he denies dialectic theory. In a sense, Dietrich[11] implies that we have to choose between the capitalist paradigm of expression and cultural precapitalist theory.

Well if you didn't understand that...

Neither did I!
its a computer generated piece of rubbish. *seriously*
can't tell the difference eh?
heres the shocker, Alan Sokal, a well known physicist submitted a piece just like that to an academic Journal of Post-modernism. It got accepted and formed that basis of the Sokal Affair. Apparently its acceptance and subsequent publishing raised alot of controversy as the editors of the Journal failed to pick up the difference between real academic writing and total bullshit which he had fabricated (deliberately) with the most ludicious of concepts.

Its rather embarassing to call yourself a professor of postmodernist philosophy when you can't tell bullshit from real writing.
Even more disturbingly,
A TOTALLY computer generated article was accepted to be presented at a conference on computer science. Though, thankfully, it was not peer reviewed or published... well you can see where this goes...

On another note: DIE COFM. DIE HRM. fuffy puff masquarading as Science.

check out the other hoaxes based on pseudoscientific writing!

and to get your very own personal paper on postmodernism, heres the computer generator! papers are just a refresh away...

its pretty cool to read how the generated the paper - recursive grammars which form the basis of the sentence syntax.

Sumiko Tan

im sitting in a comfy chair and eating my sunday lunch. Im relaxed whilst i tuck in a nice bit of homemade laksa... the newspapers are spread before me and i've just read the sunday comic section.

This idyllic picture is vaporised when i read about homeschooling. Don't get me wrong, im fine with the idea of homeschooling or schooling or what you have it about schooling to begin with - however i do have a thing about shameless self exhibition and inane thoughts on the national newspaper. please some standards?

now i haven't read the papers in a while what with exams, holidays and the trip to vietnam for the last month or so... but it appears constants never change (almost.) so yes, shes stopped writing about her pet dog (his birth death and food), her imaginary boyfriend (his presence, her dumping, her learning to live without) or just plain whining about how life sucks (which seems particularly popular).

big deal.

its morphed into her vaguely more introspective but equally annoying apologies over her secondary school education (oh "a drab small convent school" *faux tears*)and her inbuilt bias against the lesser schools in Singapore.

i have one word for sumiko tan: Stop.
for the love of god, STOP.

we have better things to cover.

Ecclesiastes 7:18

Today in Koinoia, we did Ecclesiastes 3, A time for everything. I don't know why i was suddenly struck by the urge to read the exact verse and the book of Ecclesiastes to more detail..( i haven't touched my bible in awhile!)... but im glad i did.

15 All things have I seen in the days of my vanity: there is a just man that perisheth in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man that prolongeth his life in his wickedness.
16 Be not righteous over much, neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself?
17 Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time?
18 It is good that thou shouldest take hold of this; yea, also from this withdraw not thine hand: for he that feareth God shall come forth of them all.

i cross referenced this to the today's english bible:

15: my life has been useless, but in it I have seen everything. Some good people may die while others live on, even though they are evil.
16: So don't be too good or too wise - why kill yourself?
17: but don't be too wicked or too foolish either - why die before you have to?
18: Avoid both extremes. If you have reverence for God, you will be sucessful anyway.

Remarkable!
I was just wondering about whether it was possible to reconcile the concept of a universal morality in context of all the different cultures around the world. And i was provided with an answer.

I concluded that without God, there could be no universal standard, because ultimately, morality can, and will never be a personal concept. It exists in the space between you and me. since neither of us are perfect, morality will not achieve perfection by this means.

If we add God to the equation, only then do we have a firm base to build a house upon rather than a deck of ill- fitting cards. To have a perfect moral standard, NECESSITATES the existance of a perfect being.

My next thought was, how then does one approach God in that sense? What does religion mean? Does a belief in God correlate with the acceptance and practice of His moral standard? or, conversely, and more interestingly for me, can two opposing alternatives occur?

1) That reverence in God and his glory but not its religious structure, lead to an equally productive life?

2)That understanding in religious dogma and structure without belief in God, lead to an equally productive life.

Since ive already explored the 2nd possibility at depth, the 1st possiblity looks particularly interesting.

Perhaps what im proposing is belief in Deism. I've looked at the various religions, and most are pretty similar. How does one tie God to a particular religion?

Since we're on this thread, i shall not let my thoughts be miscommunicated and muddled via pure sematics.

Here is a quote from Deism.com:

If Deism teaches a belief in God, then what is the difference between Deism and the other religions like Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, etc.? Deism is, as stated above, based on nature and reason, not "revelation." All the other religions make claim to special divine revelation or they have requisite "holy" books. Deism has neither. In Deism there is no need for a preacher, priest or rabbi. All one needs in Deism is their own common sense and the creation to contemplate.

I argue that all such books have also been inspired by the divine being. there is (possibly) no false book... all have been written for the reverence of God.

i think what nat (lam) pointed out made a lot of sense. what that was not true would not have lasted anyway. so i would guess that all modern religions could possibly be equally true.

hey. don't shoot me over this post yah?

Whats in a name?

DSC_1382zbz2222, originally uploaded by youheng1.

a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.
origami flowers of my own design. whee!

I watched Narnia today!

Overall, it was a pretty good movie.
The christian theme was certainly brought out clearly and powerfully by the director.. while i can't comment on the moral principles articulated, i did however walk away with a very clear idea of what not to do as an evil white witch...

first, some quotes:

1) "bwahahahahaha Mr Faun.. you shall die in the knowledge that this boy betrayed you for candies!"

2) "bwahahaha Aslan, you shall die in the knowledge that your death shall be worth nothing as my armies will crush yours tomorrow"

3) "(this one is more of a mental thought) bwahahah, this stupid boy with a new sword is taking on me as a experienced swordsmaster! wow... DUH!....(some time later)... oh such a pity!.. he couldn't block that parry! hoho... kena knocked helpless on the floor... i wonder what i should do?... hmm... pose dramatically or kill him? i guess i'll pose dramatically!....(more stylised fighting some time later).. WHAT THE!!! *sounds of being eaten by a lion*"

i guess the last one says it all. :)

also... one of the themes of the movie was - heros are not not born, they are made by circumstance. heros are simply the people who rose to the challenge.

make a hero out of me.

Heh, after years of procrastination, mom, has FINALLY had her portrait taken. and, knowing mummy dear, she only did it when work chased her for it. lol. tsk. still, i think she likes it!

this is my personal version, the official portrait is so much more dull and regular. (ie. blank face and stare!)

An exquisite canvas

DSC_0963z2, originally uploaded by youheng1.

When the human face becomes the most exquisite canvas.

its expressions range from the most subtly acute emotion to long standing joy or melancholy. by forcing it into a monotoned, highly stylised high contrast image, it leads us to rather unsual results.

Some thoughts/ a rush of blood to the head.

Some Thoughts:

the CA's are over... and you know this is getting into a really bad habit.

Because i don't work in school, i rush mug in the holidays, leading to a paradoxical increase in working hours in the hols.

Now - i can't enjoy my hols and... school, whatever way you put it, will still be SCHOOL. ive killed guilt free enjoyment! - or at least the delusion of it. all hail the unfreshmaker (from the antiproducers of Mentoes)

What i am thankful for however, is my erstwhile mugging companions. Without you, i could not have done it. Literally. all the borrowed notes and discussions into the pathogenesis of whatever metastatic cancer or for that matter DOTA! i COULD NOT have done it without YOU!

special thanks goes to:

Alex, You are THE man. you lend clinical focus to me, a poor non-clinical shmuck! and as my spiritual advisor, i have never been found lacking. Thanks for all the late night hanging out and just being there when i needed someone to share my burdens and joy(haha) in the happy knowledge that i would always get the best of advice and empathy. Also thanks for all the times we makaned prata to the music of my growling stomach and fatty (changing) liver. I think i owe you 1x a lunch and 1x an owning in DOTA. Hows the beer shirt man. hahaha.

Oh before i become an ungrateful ingrate, thanks again for all the RIDES! Yes, Alex, your car is *wicked sick!* make that two lunches.

Sunder, who has both lent me his notes and his SMILE by being the pillar of strength hes always been. Also thanks for all the owning in DOTA. I actually learnt quite a lot. ;). I also owe you lunch (our hot date which we will have down at Little India.) Also i hope you like the beer shirt.. even though you don't drink. hehe.

Natw for lending me yes, surprise surprise, NOTES! and for being in the oddly glorified position as my hotel receptionist. without you, how would i ever know when to wake up? Also, thanks for all the late night msn and music and stickers!
I also owe you lunch (wed on?) - and, in addition to that, might i add a good movie to boot? Jeux d'enfants - Love me if you dare! Lastly, you are also entited to a scarf which i brought back from the avian flu (H5N1) infested Vietnam. *grin* *cough cough bronchopneumia*

Claris, for the nodding doll which cheered me up to no end (even though i hid that by pretending not be be totally captivated. haha the secrets out!) and for being the bubbly mugging companion you've always been. Also, i like peach sweets very much! *smacks lips hungrily* You are entitled to my everlasting devotion and also a scarf. You may buy me lunch. mwuahahaha.

Pearlly, HOT CHIC! thanks for the mugging company and the ever ready smile for me, myself and the camera! ouyang the camera whore strikes again! You really do look good in photographs! (as is in real life.) ho ho ho. You are also entitled to my everlasting devotion and the aforementioned scarf. ditto above.

Siying, HOT CH- @#&^*!!!!! *gets beaten up by he who shall not be name for messing with his girl* thanks dear for the NOTES, and for being the cheerful smile at the odd hours we stayed up to! Now if we can replicate that fit of pure joy (jumping up and down outside the library) on a daily basis, life would be perfect! You ALREADY have my everlasting devotion.. or at least for the rest of our CG days ah hah...*grin*. and yes, you get the aforementioned scarf too!

Blanche, M'dear nieeeeece! thanks for all the encouragement and late night MSN! woohoo! *gRINz!* (note the stylistics) and the book the book the book the book the NOON book! squeals! *mwuaks!* ive been looking for it for the last half a DECADE! and now its mine! my precioussssss.. mwuahahah. I owe you lunch. and we can also go watch the bloody/grisly/macabre SAW II with xue ting if you're still game! *happy happy/evil grin*

Nat Lam, *mhm* cheeese cake is good. and also tom yam instant noodles - did you know MSG's actually good for you? haha lowers your risk of cancer, heart and kidney failure! its the miracle drug of the century! and say hi to Chanel for me! *pats the lovely dog's head!* I really enjoyed our conversation - with Chanel evesdropping all the way! Its nice to have someone whos willing and articulate enough to just open up and talk for hours! must be the glib law school training! I Hope the scarf compliments your wardrobe and (for reasons that shall not be revealed here) HAIR!

Larry, for all the help with patho, and for giving me a wicked excuse to annoy you about Joanna.

Joanna, for all the help with patho, and for giving me a wicked excuse to annoy you about Larry.

Jiawei, DUDE! haha you so totally rock. i dunno but mugging with you is actually fun. no specifics.. just YOU man!

Jingxiang/wee soon/cheng yu/melvin: oh man you guys a hilarious when you DOTA! so sorry im such a noob. *bleah* but nvm own the ouyang a few more times (with my expressed permission). its good for you! im walking stress relief! special thanks to Jingxiang for his last min notes! they were a lifesaver. haha. they came out. *grin*

to the thankful souls who put together compendiums of notes upon useful notes, God bless you, i guess.

Overall, while i bitch and grumble about CA's, its really whats drawn us all together.
so much for that band of medical brotherhood we've heard so much about... its just a mix of hardwork, mugging and yes, the ever dreaded CA's. Im thankful.

Rush of blood to the head:

now, in the emotional dept. CAs really mess you up. i think its the stress. what does finding someone mean? it happens so incidental to periods of great stress im starting to think its an epidemological problem... *twiddles thumbs*

perhaps its the yearning to find some security admist the insecurity of the exams or even the unpredictability of life stemming from rush mugging where night and day are blurred into a dizzying whirlpool of half read facts.

the de rigour these days seems to be just standing at the threshold; where everyone's just *friends* -yet, the balls in my court and now im faced with the question of where i want this to lead.. do i walk knowing that a beautiful friendship is worth its weight in gold or do i try for the distinction list? this sounds eerily like the negative marking scheme we've become used too...

i guess its how much i've grown emotionally attached to her. pragmatically, it seems an uphill struggle... yet, my heart flutters at her very presence and its really been bringing out my better side. im more joyful to boot! i sense theres something about this one.
